What is Navision Software used for
Navision software is one of the previous names for the computer software that is now called Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Dynamics NAV is a multi purpose business software title that is capable of performing a number of different functions. As part of the larger Microsoft Dynamics family of software, Dynamics NAV is able to assist individuals and businesses with finance, business management, manufacturing, customer management, analysis, supply chain analytics, and all manner of electronic commerce. Because Dynamics NAV is sold to value added resellers (VARs), it is also possible for third parties to customise the code through modifications using the C/AL programming language. Navision is used in a wide range of industries and commercial sectors, with a flexible and open ended functionality that is an asset to all types of business operations.
Navision, or Dynamics NAV, is licensed under the BRL, or Business Ready Licence system. While this licensing system may seem complicated at first, it is in essence a simple way for users to purchase individual user sessions in order to access the capabilities of the system. Under the BL license, there are two separate types of users, Business Essentials and Advanced Management. As you would expect, Advanced Management, or AM, provides access to a greater feature set than Business Essentials, although many of the individual program features are accessible to all users. When discussing Microsoft Dynamics NAV, it makes sense to compare it to the other three Microsoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) software products. Basically, the majority of Dynamics NAV customers are looking for flexible and “out of the box” functionality, especially many users in the distribution and manufacturing sectors.
While Navision has a standard feature set, it makes sense to see it more as a complete construction set of potential new features. The way that it has been built means that Dynamics NAV is easy for people to customise through the Pascal like development language, which requires very little in the way of complex server side procedures. Navision software is incredibly flexible and open ended, and can be used for a wide range of applications. Because of this flexibility and potential complexity however, it is often used by businesses who are looking for a customised enterprise resource planning software solution.
